Jamaica-Me Merry Sorrel Cocktail

Jamaica-Me Merry Sorrel Cocktail

Rating
Yields1 Serving
1 cup dried Hibiscus flowers or sorrel (I bought mine on Amazon)
 1 orange peel
 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks
2 inches of fresh ginger peeled and sliced
 4 cups of boiling water
 1 cup of sugar
 Jamaican Dark Rum
 Ice
 Lime wedges
1

In a large bowl combine Hibiscus flowers, orange peel, cinnamon sticks, and ginger. Add boiling hot water. Allow mixture to steep for at least 2 hours. Up to overnight is fine too. The longer it sits, the stronger the flavor.

2

Strain sorrel and sweeten with sugar to taste. I like a cup but you may like yours a little bit less sweet.
Chill sorrel. Feel free to drink as is for a great non-alcoholic drink.

3

To make Cocktail: combine rum and sorrel over ice and finish with a squeeze of lime.
